HEY THERE!
I'm Urvi Patil, a 17-year-old photographer based in Dallas, Texas. I started getting into photography when I was about 13 and learned how to use a camera. I got gifted my first camera, a Nikon D3400, when I turned 14 and used it till I turned 17 and bought a Sony A7III, and I've been using it ever since! I mainly specialize in portrait and event photography but I also love to experiment with sports photography.
AND SO IT BEGAN
I've had a love for photography before even knowing what it truly was. When I was young, I was gifted a small silver Kodak camera. Within just a month I had managed to fill it with hundreds of memories: video diaries, photos of my family, new craft projects, and anything else in my life that had significance to me. From that point on, I realized that capturing these memories is something I wanted to do for as long as possible. In 7th grade, I decided to join yearbook at my school, and it completely changed my life. I fell in love with photography, cameras, and the beauty of being able to both capture a story visually, and writing it for others to read. I'm now entering my senior year and my final year of yearbook (leaving me heartbroken), and over the years I've only fallen deeper in love with everything that photography entails.

SO WHY PHOTOGRAPHY?
I've always known that a picture is worth a thousand words, but photography introduced me to a whole new aspect of that saying. I always struggled with living in the moment, accepting things for what they were and truly taking in what was happening. But somehow, within the years of learning about photography and everything it had to offer, I discovered how to not only live in the moment, but to take pictures that allowed others to do the same, even when they were looking back at photos years later. To me, the beauty of photography has always been that you could capture so many fleeting feelings in just one shot, and years from now if you choose to look back at that same picture, you could retell that story while watching the life you were living through.
